Job Overview

We are seeking a talented and forward-thinking Fashion Designer to join our dynamic and creative team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for colour, fabric, silhouette, and detail, with the ability to translate original concepts into commercially successful, trend-driven collections. This role involves full participation in the design process, from initial concept development and research through to final sample approval.

You will be responsible for driving the research and development of both customer-specific collections and our in-house clothing range, ensuring all designs are aligned with the tastes and expectations of our target market. The successful candidate must be highly responsible, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple projects while maintaining a strong creative vision.

Designing across multi-product categories, you’ll be working with a variety of styles and fabrications tailored to the Gen Z demographic. Experience or knowledge in denim design is preferred and will be considered a strong advantage. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative and fast-paced design environment.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Research current fashion trends and determining what consumers will like.
  • Create mood boards to show to clients.
  • Keep up to date with emerging fashion trends as well as general trends relating to fabrics, colours, and shapes.
  • Plan and develop (CAD) ranges, often based on theme.
  • Select fabrics, trims and colours in line with the collection vision and budget.
  • Collaborate with the design team to develop ideas for new products based on research date.
  • Liaise closely with sales, buying and production teams on an ongoing basis to ensure items suit the customer, market, and price points.
  • Communication technical design information for customer samples.
  • Maintain the company identity and develop newness ranges for customers.
  • Work with team members to design cloths for upcoming seasons.
  • Select fabrics and trims.
  • Oversee the prototype sample process.
  • Arrange sample for customers meeting and maintain showroom newness.

 

 Requirements and skills

  • Ideally, 3+ years of experience in fashion or apparel design.
  • Strong sense of creativity, innovation, and artistic flair.
  • Keen eye for colour, fabric textures, and materials.
  • Ability to generate original ideas and concepts, think creatively, and work independently.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Solid background in ladieswear design with a strong portfolio of relevant work.
  • Proficient in general computer applications and digital tools.
  • Sound knowledge of garment construction and apparel technology.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a business-savvy approach to design.
  • Confidence in self-promotion and the ability to articulate design ideas effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and networking skills.
  • Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Well-organized with strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
