Our client is a growing Law firm specialising in housing litigation, representing tenants living in sub-standard accommodation, swiftly bringing landlords and associations to account. With an increase in client instructions due to their success and strong track record, this growth comes an opportunity for experienced Solicitors & Fee Earners with solid litigation experience within Housing Condition matters.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful Solicitor will look after a caseload of pre and post-litigated matters focusing on Sections 9a and 11 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985. You will be confident and capable handling all aspects of housing disrepair claims, you will diligently progress cases from inception to a successful and satisfactory conclusion for the client. Ensuring full compliance with pre-action protocols for Housing Conditions.
- Run a caseload of pre- and post-litigation housing conditions claims on behalf of tenants
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, such as the Landlord & Tenant Act
- Drafting LOCs
- Collation of special damages
- Review housing records to assess liability
- Review and analyse expert surveyor’s reports, both Claimant and Defendant
- Negotiation and settlement
- Liaise with counsel
- Issuing Court Proceedings
- Use Proclaim (claims management software) previous experience with Proclaim would be an advantage
- Communicate effectively with clients in person, via telephone or email.
